About Us, SDP & Our Mission

What is Cooked By Conte? What Do We Do?

We are an education and support system designed to give families, specifically SDP clients, the ability to live a more independent and empowered life.

How Does That Apply, and What Does That Mean?

We work individually with each client to understand their specific needs. We then tailor a system that genuinely supports them in living an independent life. Solutions are not one size fits all within the disabled community. Different clients require different types of support, and our goal is to create systems that work for each person’s individual lifestyle and needs.

This is the core reason SDP exists. It empowers families to choose the solutions that best fit their lives. As a company, we work alongside families to identify and build individualized solutions that may not already exist in the marketplace. SDP is one step in the right direction.

Our company serves as the next step by acting as a broker to solutions and creating real, customized systems designed for each individual situation. These systems integrate seamlessly into daily life. The ability to feed oneself is foundational. It is a cornerstone of independent living and of being able to participate meaningfully in the community.

How Do We Do It?

When clients first reach out to us, our priority is understanding the participant’s exact needs. We take time to assess dietary needs and sensitivities. We evaluate cognitive and physical capacity. We also identify opportunities for education and growth.

Cooking classes, private chef support, and shopping assistance are tools rather than end goals. The ultimate goal is for clients to live the most independent and sustainable life possible. This includes independent living, social engagement, and the ability to nourish oneself in a way that aligns with both dietary guidelines and lifestyle needs.

Once we understand the client’s capabilities and lifestyle requirements, we work with the family and the Independent Facilitator to create a plan that fits within the current spending plan or can be budgeted for the next one. After onboarding, we provide education on how to browse menu collections on our website and place orders. This includes selecting the date for the chef visit and choosing meals for the week. These steps build meal planning skills in an accessible way and allow clients to participate as much as possible.

After meals are prepared, we provide education on proper food storage, reheating, and transporting meals for community activities. This may include using a warm thermos when out in the community.

To a fully independent person, this service may sound like a luxury. That perception exists because capable individuals can grocery shop, meal plan, cook, and clean on their own. The luxury comes from not having to do those tasks. For many SDP clients, these tasks are not feasible. In many cases, they cannot complete all of them independently.

What we have built is infrastructure that allows clients to meal plan and eat independently throughout the week. This enables greater community participation and reduces daily strain on both the individual and their support system.

This service may also sound like a luxury to people without significant dietary restrictions, where food options are abundant. Those individuals may associate private chef services with high end meals. This is not the reality for SDP clientele. For SDP families, the focus is on finding something that works. Many families face situations where food options are extremely limited or nonexistent.

When clients onboard with us, they often experience immediate improvements in independence. Over the long term, spanning twenty to thirty years of the participant’s life, this infrastructure supports continued growth and sustainability. Initially, caregivers assist with system usage. Over time, we educate both the family and the participant to increase independent use.

An additional component of our infrastructure is accommodating dietary restrictions through substitutions and intentional meal selection. This process also educates families on new food options and possibilities that were previously inaccessible.

What Is Our Goal With SDP Families?

Some clients may never be able to meal plan, shop, or cook entirely on their own. Our goal is to provide the education and systems that allow them to use our infrastructure independently. By doing so, clients gain a more sustainable lifestyle, increased independence, and a higher quality of life.

Our primary goal is to help clients live a more independent and empowered life. We aim to make community participation easier and ensure clients can move through life in a sustainable way.
